International Conference "The Holocaust and Europe - Research Trends, Pedagogical Approaches, and Political Challenges" from 4–7 November 2019 / Call for Papers until 31 December 2018


For the international conference "The Holocaust and Europe: Research Trends, Pedagogical Approaches, and Politic al Challenges. Special Lessons and Legacies Conference on the Holocaust" from 4 to 7 November 2019 in Munich, the Federal Agency for Civic Education/bpb and the Center for Holocaust Studies at the Institute for Contemporary History in Munich (IfZ) invite proposals for papers, panels, and workshops relating to recent issues and advances in Holocaust scholarship and Education.

We welcome submissions that address broad explanatory frameworks, representation, pedagogy, and memory, and from disciplines other than history are strongly encouraged. The conference will reflect particularly on the legacy of WWII and the Holocaust. Furthermore, we want to discuss the impact of  nationalist and right-wing tendencies for Holocaust research and education. 

We invite scholars and practitioners, especially those working at memorial sites, to submit abstracts of up to 300 words and a CV (max 1 page) to 
lessons@ifz-muenchen.de .

Speakers will not be charged for the conference or the visiting program, catering will be provided. To the extent possible, financial assistance towards travel and accommodation costs for conference presenters will be provided as well. 

The submission deadline is 31 December 2018.
