About the program

For the academic year 2015/16, the Joint Master’s Program “German and European Studies” is calling for the eight time for applications from students in their 4thyear of university studies or older.

For the best students, the two-year full-time social science programme includes a fully financed five-month study and research visit to the Friedrich Schiller University Jena in Thuringia.

A full completion of the study program will lead to a double diploma awarded both by NaUKMA and FSU Jena. After successful graduation the applicants receive the German degree Master of Politics (M*Pol) from Jena and a Ukrainian Master diploma in political science from NaUKMA. The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) financially supports the program.

At least fifty percent of the teaching in the two-year Master's programme will be in German, the remaining classes are in English or Ukrainian. Participants will receive a comprehensive overview of the political systems of Germany and the European Union as well as some knowledge about the economic and legal affairs of contemporary Germany and the EU.

Who can apply?

All Ukrainian holders of a bachelor’s degree or higher may apply. Applicants should have intermediate or advanced knowledge of both German (B1 or higher) and English (B2 or higher) as well as a strong interest in contemporary German and European affairs. We also encourage non-Ukrainian and post-graduate applicants to apply for our program and pass it, if successful, on a contractual basis.

How to apply?

Applicants must pass through the regular enrolment procedure at NaUKMA which includes an entrance examination (English, Political Science) that will take place in the middle of July (for more detailed information see http://www.ukma.edu.ua/index.php/osvita

    

To apply for our programme, you have to hand in your application documents between the first and 15th of July 2015.

The entrance examinations will take place between the 15th of July until the end of July.

The dates for the political science examination will be in late July.

Immediately afterwards, a native speaker will examine German language proficiency within a small interview.

After successful application, NaUKMA will decide on possible awards for study scholarships for outstanding applicants. Applicants, who do not receive a study scholarship, can also enter our program on a contractual basis. At the moment of writing (June 2015), the tuition fees for the Master's program in Political Scienceare for Ukrainians - 25,000 UAH per year; for foreigners with Ukrainian roots - 3,000 $ per year, and for foreigners - 3,500 $ per year (More information:www.ukma.edu.ua/index.php/abiturientu/153-admission/1299-vartist-navchannia ) .
